1. Reclassifying your Vehicle with the DVLA
This can be Done by Reclassifying your Vehicle into a 'Motor Caravan' or 'Motorhome' on your V5C (Your Vehicle Log Book).
The DVLA have Multiple Motorhome Conversion Requirements including:
- Vehicle Body Types (Box Van, Insulated Van, Specially Fitted Van, etc...).
- Internal Features (Sleeping Accomidation, Cooking Facilities, Storage Facilities).
- External Features (Windows, High Top Roof, Awning Bar, etc...).
Do I Legally Need to Reclassify My Vehicle?
It is no Longer Necessary to Reclassify your Van as a Campervan. The New DVLA Campervan Rules have refused reclassification to an overwhelming majority of Campervans and Motorhomes since the latter half of 2019.
The DVLA has Ultimately Confirmed that the V5C Only seeks to Record a Vehicle’s Body Type. So, Unless your Body tTpe has Changed, you Do Not need to Reclassify your Campervan.
